WAVERLEY
Badminton Club
The social side
Over the years we've managed to organise quite a variety of events including skittles, curry nights, ten-pin bowling and much more. Socialising is a of great importance to the club and we always enjoy doing things together whether its a dinner and a might out or a short holiday or weekend away but you are guaranteed to enjoy yourself with the many diverse socials that we have planned for the upcoming year. so come down and get involved!
Ten-Pin Bowling and Dinner
September 2013 & April 2015
After a good friendly meal out together and a few drinks what could be better than taking on the rest of the club at ten-pin bowling, with prizes of course. Not that we are competitive or anything like that! Well done to our most recent winner with a respectable score of 267 and to our social secretary for organising such a fun evening out.
Club BBQs
August 2011, September 2012 & August 2014
The club's summer barbeques are legendary gatherings with lots to eat and drink, music late into the night, some slightly competitive games of pool and even trampolining. There's a great choice of food for the vegetarians and we've even had a 'shuttlecock' cake to celebrate another great year at Waverley. For a change in 2013, we held an Indian buffet and danced it off at a local bar. In 2014 we staged and filmed one young player's very own ice bucket challenge.
Christmas dinner and quiz night
December 2012, 2013 & 2014
Held at The Crown, Old Basing for the last three years and featuring the club chairman's own unique brand of quiz questions! There are dingbats, picture rounds, music rounds, taste challenges and some 'general' knowledge rounds that would be better described as somewhat bizarre. As usual the combination of good company, good food and a lot of laughs makes this seasonal outing a club favourite.
Center Parcs weekend away
June 2013
In our defense, Badminton was played on both full days of our stay at Center Parcs in Wiltshire. It was a very sporty weekend, honestly it was. We had several pool tournaments, went swimming and the bikes sort of put in an appearance. Although full details cannot be disclosed, we had a huge amount of fun and club weekends are highly recommended. Luckily we had the right people down for shopping and catering, we certainly never went hungry and I would say the food was the most wholesome aspect of the entire trip!
Skiing Holiday
June 2014
The club occasionally likes to organise short holidays for all club members to get involved with. These are always very fun and always sporty. Recently the club organised a 4 day holiday to Austria staying at the Staffler hotel for skiing. There were many different skiing abilities so don't think that you need to be a pro!
